Professor Jeús Cardeñosa from the Faculty of Information Technologies at Madrid Polytechnic University, proposed us the creation of technological research groups that would be supported by that Institution in the development of scientific and technological programmes in Argentina and especially in the North – West region. This was the origin of “La Buhardilla”.

One of the foundational objectives of “La Buhardilla” Foundation is to promote science study, research and development. For this reason the Research Centre for the Promotion of Knowledge (CIPCO) was created. It includes the following groups: Language Engineering, Foundations and Applications of Artificial Intelligence and Independent Software Validation and Verification (ISVV).

From these groups, we intend to contribute in a significant way to the development, transference, and effective application of information and communication technologies towards different society sectors. In this way we can help to diminish the digital gap and to promote socio-economic progress in the region. Likewise we are able to promote and support scientific research programmes related to the foundational objectives.

According to an agreement with the Faculty of Computer Sciences at Madrid Polytechnic University, the CIPCO, participated in the formation of an international work group devoted to developing Linguistic Technologies to be used in education in infra supported minority languages, in mid 2008. This research project was founded by the Consortium for the UNESCO Chair in Linguistic Technologies at the Service of Education in Indigenous Populations. Since our beginnings we have promoted inter-institutional integration by means of  agreements and working pacts with national and international entities, governmental and non governmental, always seeking for participation, collaboration and jointly help for the concretion of the aims to which the Foundation was created.

Mission: What do we exist for?

-  The mission of the Foundation is to offer a service of excellence in research and innovation which consolidates it as a regional, national and international referent.

-  Promote scientific – technical research, as well as formation and teaching in the technological – computer area aiming to potentiate our Project quality.

-  Encourage and manage computer technological research in Tucumán, the NW region, Argentina and abroad, by means of an efficient and efficacious system of research, contributing with researchers to an added value that transfers to society.

To become an organism that promotes, assesses and manages research and development of new Technologies applicable to different society areas.
